Press and Sample Loans

Sample loan policy

Version 1.0  ·  Effective August 31, 2026  ·  Los Angeles

Lovett lends samples to stylists, publications and talent teams for editorial, music video and celebrity press. Almost everything we lend exists as a single physical piece. This page sets out what holding those pieces means. It summarises the terms of the Lovett loan agreement that every loan is issued under.

Our samples are one of one.
Most Lovett pieces are one-of-one prototypes. They are not reproducible on demand, and some cannot be reproduced at all.
You are liable from collection to confirmed return.
The recipient is fully liable for every item from the moment it is collected or delivered until Lovett confirms safe return. Title stays with Lovett throughout.
Loss is charged at 2× retail plus tax.
Replacement Value is set at twice the declared retail value of the piece, plus sales tax. It is a floor, not a ceiling.

Why twice retail

When a piece is lost we lose two things: the piece itself, and the chance to place it on someone else. Editorial and celebrity placement is how the brand is marketed, and it has real commercial value to us. That second loss is difficult to price precisely at the time of a loan, so it is set at twice retail plus tax. We consider that a conservative figure.

Requesting a loan

Requests go to press@lovettworld.com. Include the talent or project, the shoot or event date, the intended return date, and reference images or SKUs for the pieces you want. We confirm what is available for that window and issue a loan agreement listing every piece and its declared retail value.

Samples are released once that agreement is signed. Nothing leaves the studio without one.

Retours

Pieces come back by the date on the agreement, in the condition they went out in. Returns are checked in piece by piece against the schedule, and a loan stays open until every item is accounted for. If dates move, a written extension agreed by email before the return date is all it takes.

Loss, damage and late return

  • Minor, repairable damage: the actual cost of repair.
  • Lost, stolen, destroyed or unrepairable: Replacement Value, twice retail plus tax.
  • Late by seven days or more: we may either treat the item as lost and charge Replacement Value, or charge retail plus reasonable storage until it is back. A written extension agreed in advance avoids this.

Damage calls are made reasonably and in good faith. Invoices are due within 30 days.

Credits

Lovett is credited in any print or online publication featuring our pieces, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. Stylists tag @lovett_world in their own posts and stories, and make reasonable efforts to have talent, publications and third parties credit us too. Where a stylist does not credit us in their own posts or stories, we may charge retail price per item. Credit by a publication, talent or other third party is a best-efforts obligation and is not charged for: we know that call is not yours to make.

Images and content

Send all images and video featuring Lovett pieces to press@lovettworld.com within seven days of publication or posting. Sending content grants Lovett a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use it across social, website, marketing and press. If the rights sit with a photographer or another third party, tell us before you send so we can clear it with them directly.

What we lend, and what we rent

Press loans cover editorial, celebrity press and music video. We do not lend for live performance, tour, film or advertising media. Those are rentals, charged at 20% of retail per week, payable in full before pickup and under separate rental terms. Production wardrobe, long holds and repeat use across a run of dates are usually better as rentals too. Tell us the use at request stage and we will quote it.

Placement and pull fees

Press loans exist so that pieces get placed, and we ask every stylist what ran when the pieces come back. Where three loans pass without a placement, further pulls move to a pull fee or a rental. The fee is set case by case and quoted before anything is reserved, so nobody is charged a figure they have not seen. A paid rental is not counted for or against placement either way.

Governing terms

This page is a summary for anyone borrowing from Lovett. Each loan is governed by the signed loan agreement issued for it, under California law, with any dispute heard in the state or federal courts of Los Angeles County. Where this page and a signed agreement differ, the agreement governs.
